24 March 2014

This week went pretty good for the most part.   A sad thing happened though in that a less active that we are working with had her father pass away.  The thing though is that I knew her father as he was inactive as well and he lived over in North Chili in Spencerport area so it was pretty sad.   We went to the funeral and they had some Lutheran guy give a sermon and it was good but felt like it was missing something.  It just got me thinking a lot about the plan of salvation and how really important it is.  The verses in Alma 40:11-12 really stuck out a ton.  Elder Ipson sang a solo and I was going to accompany except the funeral home didn't have a piano.

Felicia drove herself to church and paid her first tithe so that was pretty awesome!  She also made us this really good African food for lunch on Friday too!  It was nice and spicy!    Also we took apart a bunk bed and fixed two computers for some less active people on Wednesday and they were really appreciative of that.  Computer skills are pretty handy on the mission! Yesterday was pretty fun.  We went with our recent convert Jacob Norris in the ghetto and hit up a ton of less actives and former investigators.  Unfortunately most people had moved away, but we were able to talk to some people and we talked to this really cool guy who lived in the most ghetto part of our area and he was really nice.  Most people in the city are actually pretty chill and friendly.  You just don't want to be carrying any money (and now Ipads) with you.

We also had ward conference yesterday and it was really good in that it talked about repentance.  I think the one thing that stuck out to me was that if people don't forgive themselves they aren't accepting the Savior and are not repenting completely.   I also like the idea that repentance gives you a power to resist that same sin and the temptation to do that sin again and that you really have to feel sorry in order to repent as it says in 2 Corinthians 7:10.  And we were able to talk about that with a less active couple that we saw yesterday too.  It seems specifically that God is showing me how there is so much vital knowledge that people are going without that only the Book of Mormon and modern day revelation can answer and reveal.
